To support your teams and those around you leaders must understand mental wellness and how it can impact individuals in different ways. From creating a culture where people feel they can bring their best self to work. To getting the right support structures in place through to giving someone the permission they need to step out of the business is all critical to how we need to show up day in, day out. So much of that is about trust, understanding and taking timely action to support those around us.
Can you tell us about a time NABS has supported you, your business or someone you know?
I know so many people that have been supported by NABS. One of the things I love most about NABS is that it supports people at every step of the way. From crisis moments like being made redundant to moments where you just need extra support or confidence like returning from maternity leave or entering into a new role. I think part of the value is being independent from the Agencies themselves. It gives people an opportunity to really open up and get the support they may not feel they can get internally.
How will you advance mental wellness in our industry next year?
I’m a big believer that tangible actions are what make a big difference. From being a champion for that in my own Agency and on behalf of NABS – sharing the work they do, to using my network to promote it, to fundraising – If we can all do one thing this year to promote Mental Health and NABS it would make a big difference to our community.
