As a manager, you sit at the heart of your organisation. You’re expected to deliver, support, include, and inspire. But while the pressure is high, support and training often fall short.

Insights from the All In 2023 census and NABS’ All Ears community consultation made one thing clear: managers need more tools to meet the moment. So we created Managers’ Mindsets – to help you grow, while helping others thrive.

Why managers need NABS’ support more than ever

Expectations on managers are high, yet training for managers is often overlooked.

According to the Advertising Association’s All In data, 33% of us are dealing with stress and anxiety that affects our work, with certain groups like early careers, LGBTQIA+, and disabled employees feeling these impacts disproportionately.

The NABS All Ears consultation found, 71% of respondents believe the industry needs to prioritise mental wellness, yet 35% feel unable to openly discuss it. Often those who most need support, feel least able to talk.

42% of people experiencing mental wellness issues would take them to their line manager first, despite a widespread awareness that managers were not always prepared for their responsibilities. NABS All Ears, 2023

"Workers who rate their manager as ineffective are significantly more likely to leave their organisation in the next 12 months, than those who say their line manager is effective." The rise of the accidental manager, CIM 2023

"Measures by employers to improve the mental health of their employees will yield £5 on average for every £1 spent.” Deloitte Mental Health & Employers March 2022
