Man up! Exploring Men’s Mental Health
Time: 6pm - 8pm
Location: IAB Events & Training Space, 14 Macklin Street, London WC2B 5NF
Growing up or as an older man, you have heard you need to ‘stop acting like a girl’, ‘just get on with it’, ‘man up!’ These are all signals that you’re are not allowed to express emotion and signals that you are not in control, equating to weakness and a loss of masculinity. Yet, you belong to a group where the biggest thing to kill you is yourself, if you’re under 45.
So how do we help men in our industry and encourage conversation on wellbeing and mental health?
At this NABS Talk, we will hear from people in the advertising and media industry on what they are doing personally and/or professionally in creating permissive spaces in which men can be more open about their wellbeing and mental health, first-hand experiences of living with mental health issues, what it means to ‘be a man’ in the 21st century and what we can all do to practically support men with their wellbeing.
Who we’ll be hearing from:
- Poorna Bell – Journalist and speaker (chair)
- Richie Driss – Presenter
- Josh Krichefski – CEO, MediaCom UK
- Mark Sandford – Co-founder, The Book of Man
