Is the shower really the best place for creative thinking? Can mindfulness really impact creativity?
Some of our brightest and most creative ideas come when our minds are wandering and not focussed on anything in particular. Yet, left wandering for too long and without direction, unfocused thought can lead to loneliness, rumination and even depression.
Dr. Theresa Dzendrowskyj will explore the neuroscience behind brain function and two opposing brain networks, the “Default Mode Network”, involved in divergent thinking and idea generation (which, unregulated and overactive, can spiral into anxiety and despair) and the “Task Positive Network”, involved in attentional focus and mental engagement.
In this lively and interactive NABS Talks, Theresa will discuss how mindfulness can create the balance needed between the two brain networks and enhance creative thinking and innovation through focussed and open awareness meditation as well as promoting a general sense of well-being through stress reduction.
